Project Details
Wetting and transport on swellable, immobilized polymer brushes and polymer networks (A05)
Subject Area
Experimental and Theoretical Physics of Polymers
Term
since 2016
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 265191195
The project investigates the relationships between wetting and transport on swellable polymer surfaces in order to derive corresponding models on the basis of fundamental understanding. In funding period 3, it is planned to increase the complexity of the fluid systems to be investigated (water-ethanol and water-glycerol mixtures). In the new Annular Gap Rise setup of the guiding configuration immersion body, swellable films are to be applied to the immersion cylinders and their behavior characterized In addition, the existing rotational setup will be used to measure the capillary force with which liquids penetrate swellable polymer networks.
