Project Details
Direct Numerical Simulation of Locally Coupled Transport Processes at Dynamic Contact Lines (B02)
Subject Area
Fluid Mechanics
Term
since 2016
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 265191195
Complementary to the volume tracking method in project B01, this project further develops an interface tracking method, which allows the interaction between contact line dynamics and interfacial transport of surfactants to be captured in a conservative manner. This interaction is currently not understood in detail and cannot be enlightened from experiments alone. Moreover, development of efficient re-meshing methods for polyhedron meshes and discrete calculus discretization approaches will be implemented. Application oriented, forced wetting and dewetting scenarios from printing technology will be examined.
