The Avar texts are fairy tales and stories that were recorded by the German linguist Ernst Lewy in 1918. The native speakers were prisoners of war in a German camp located at Chemnitz. The edition is based on Lewy's notes, his interpretation and the numerous corrections and linguistic comments provided by experts of the Avar language together with a version in Standard Avar.
