The project studies how incorporating behavioral biases contributes to a better understanding of educational choices. Covering the areas of individual choices, market design, and student outcomes, the studies of the first funding phase were mainly devoted to studying information asymmetries and the role of over- and underconfidence. In the second funding period, the project focus lies on new aspects of information processing in the realm of education. The work packages cover (i) motivated reasoning and belief updating, (ii) costly information processing and search, and (iii) information and transparency in education policy.
