Easy and Efficient synthesis of Electron-Deficient N-Heterocyclic Systems and of Azulene-Based N-Heteropolycycles from Existing Building Blocks (A03)

Subject Area Organic Molecular Chemistry - Synthesis and Characterisation
Term since 2017
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 281029004

The project aims on the modular synthesis of N-heterocyclic scaffolds. Key intermediates of the first two funding periods will now be used to access new structures with a special focus on turning electron-rich into electron-deficient systems. For example, molecular editing procedures will transfer pyrrol or indole substructures into pyridine or pyrimidine substructures. In addition, we will incorporate azulene substructures into N-heteropolycyclic structures to replace naphthalene units by the isomeric but now non-alternating azulene π-system. The effects onto the materials properties of all new structures will be analyzed in cooperation with our SFB partners in iterative processes.
