The proposed scientific network is designed to support and intensify interdisciplinary exchange and networking among young researchers. The network members investigate the changing relationships between institutionalized temporal orders and subjective time constructions of children, adolescents and young adults as they grow older. More specifically, the researchers work on time-related orientations and practices with regard to growing up. Consequently, growing older is not only relevant for investigating the lives of older people because it also affects people during childhood, youth and young adulthood. The relationships between individual time constructions and social expectations regarding temporal structuring will be analyzed by using different methodological approaches focusing on routines of daily life as well as on biographical phases of transition and upheaval. To investigate individual time construc tions in relation to social time orders the networkers use qualitative methods, especially longitudinal studies.
