MARIE’s vision is the construction of a real-time THz material map of a dynamic indoor or outdoor environment. A central research question of S05 is therefore how to construct the real-time THz material map fast and energy-efficiently. To attain such innovation, S05 explores sensor-fusion based THz material mapping techniques, algorithms and their realization on a reconfigurable computing architecture. Challenges such as radar mapping configurations and techniques, energy-efficient mixed-grained reconfigurable computing architecture, Doppler compensation due to dynamicity of the environment, sensor-fusion based image features exploration for object recognition, adaptive radar Simultaneous LocAlization and Mapping (SLAM), dielectric properties and surface roughness estimation, are in the foreground.
