Project Details
Large-scale neuronal interactions during natural vision (B02 (ehem. 07))
Subject Area
Cognitive, Systems and Behavioural Neurobiology
Term
since 2017
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 276693517
Project B2 will investigate large-scale neuronal interactions to investigate how the brain uses knowledge of the visual world during natural vision. We hypothesise that the brain’s robustness and efficiency benefits from top-down and lateral interactions across its modular structure. In collaboration with B1 and B3, we will use MEG and fMRI on both natural dynamic visual stimuli and artificial stimuli created by a novel spatio-temporal style transfer algorithm. We will construct deep neural network models to examine the inductive biases resulting from recurrent and modular interactions, and investigate to what extent they can replicate the dynamics observed in the human brain.
