Project Details
Information selection in mouse dLGN and SC across internal and external contexts (D02 (ehem. 12))
Subject Area
Cognitive, Systems and Behavioural Neurobiology
Term
since 2017
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 276693517
Project D3 will investigate how circuits downstream of the retina select information from naturalistic visual input, and how populations of neurons can invariantly encode behaviourally salient objects under diverse environmental conditions and behavioural states. We will perform neural recordings with the same visual stimulation paradigms using in vivo two-photon calcium imaging in SC and Neuropixels in dLGN/V1, thereby comparing visual responses and their variations with external and internal contexts across the retino-colliculo and geniculo-cortical pathways. We will build digital twin models to unravel the underlying computations (in collaboration with D1 and D2), and to test the impact of context-dependent visual processing on perceptual performance (in collaboration with C1).
