This project deals with methods for path planning of industrial robots and NC machines with the focus on thermal spray coating and grinding of coated workpieces. The objectives of path planning are near-net-shape coatings and optimized coating properties. The approach of solution consists of an integration of simulation models of the application processes (thermal spraying, grinding), models of manipulator dynamics, and measured data of the real process into the path planning task for which computationally efficient algorithms are to be developed.
