We previously discovered unexpected phenomena in extinction learning that only came to light because of our focus on the learning dynamics. We therefore propose to continue this approach and extend it further across the SFB in five directions: Comparing phenomenological learning rates in acquisition and extinction learning between the groups of human participants and experimental conditions studied in this SFB. Comparing session-by-session changes in learning curves when different species repeatedly experience ABA renewal. Studying the neural correlates of the reward prediction error in different species. Automatic extraction of meaningful information about behavior from position, trajectory and video data. Studying the neural correlates of uninstructed behaviors, i.e. those irrelevant to the task.
