Project Details
Collective dynamics in nuclear collisions (B02)
Subject Area
Nuclear and Elementary Particle Physics, Quantum Mechanics, Relativity, Fields
Term
since 2017
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 315477589
This project studies the space-time dynamics of strong-interaction matter created in high-energy heavy-ion collisions. It will provide a 3+1-dimensional description of all dynamical stages of a nuclear collision by coupling non-equilibrium QCD transport theory for the early stage, relativistic fluid dynamics for the intermediate evolution, and hadronic transport for the late stages. It will investigate how fundamental properties of QCD, such as the equation of state or transport coefficients, affect experimentally measurable observables. It will also critically assess the regime of validity of the models used in the description.
