Term

Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 315477589
Spin-magnetohydrodynamics will study the role of spin, vorticity, and magnetic fields in the evolution of heavy-ion collisions and neutron-star mergers (NSMs). Non-central heavy-ion collisions create the most extreme conditions of fluid vorticity and magnetic fields in the Universe. These influence particle polarization and induce novel effects like the chiral magnetic effect (CME). The goal of this project is to derive a framework of magnetohydrodynamics coupled to hadronic transport including the dynamics of spin degrees of freedom, and to apply this to the dynamics of heavy-ion collisions, and to NSMs, under special consideration of novel phenomena like the CME.
