Project Details
Crossroads of stress response: epigenetic and epitranscriptomic changes as cause and effect of cortisol secretion and their therapeutic potential (A08)
Subject Area
Endocrinology, Diabetology, Metabolism
Term
since 2017
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 314061271
The A08 project investigates regulatory mechanisms of the adrenal stress response that exist outside the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis. Cushing's syndrome, as a condition with endogenous hypercortisolism, is used as a model. In our work, we have employed various new omics and MALDI-MSI techniques to break down these regulatory mechanisms. In the next funding period, we will investigate in more detail what epigenetic fingerprint hypercortisolism leaves behind and how this contributes to the fine regulation of the adrenal stress response in order to develop new personalized treatment options.
