The joint research of the priority program continues to aim at the research on and development of technological approaches, which allow the separation of fine particles below 10 µm. Based on the excellent work of the first phase, the aim is to publish substantial contributions for the basic training in the field of particle technology, which enables future teachings also to include the aspects of multi-dimensional analysis of particle systems. The program committee will motivate selected subprojects to make their respective contribution to this. The use of a new optical measuring device (Single-particle-light-scattering SPLS, LUMISpoc), covering a large part of the working area of the SPP due to the measuring range, allows the subprojects to receive information of both size and shape for individual single particles at the same time. It will enable the projects to generate multi-dimensional distributions and the associated multidimensional separation functions. It is also planned to establish a particle database which allows worldwide access to all datasets. The datasets are made available to the scientific community to be used in scientific publications. To establish a coherent scientific and thematic program, the collaboration needs regular personal meetings between the working groups (PhD-student and responsible group leader). Another point is the organization of training activities like summer schools or workshops on special scientific topics as well as invited lectures of leading scientists. The organization also implies the communication, e.g. web presence as well as the accounting of the networking activities, which definitely needs as assigned working force.
