In this project, we study controlled in vitro models for the SVC, ranging from minimal models of lipid vesicles with synapsin and α-synuclein, to more complex reconstitutions with functionally active synaptic vesicles and a larger number of synaptic proteins. We will exploit the high-resolution approaches we developed, to study the synaptic vesicle cluster extensively, by varying its constituents and by changing the general conditions (e.g. different Ca2+ concentrations) to mimic the rest state and the synaptic activity.
