Project Details
The influence of molecular heterogeneities on liquid phases in the synapse (C01)
Subject Area

Term
since 2017
Project identifier

We will focus on unraveling molecular mechanisms that can shape the implementation of synaptic plasticity by modulating the characteristics of synaptic LLPS. Both structures of interest, the PSD as well as the SV cluster, are cellular compartments that contain a molecular substrate, consisting of a vast number of different molecules. During the third funding period, we will investigate whether the mixture or heterogeneity of the molecular substrate could represent such a molecular mechanism shaping LLPS-related synaptic dynamics.
