We aim to investigate synaptic memory on a long timescale, by including spine-external processes – that is the spine’s surrounding elements, which could hinder, enhance or bias the actin-induced shape fluctuations either by occupying space or by anchoring the membrane through cell adhesion molecules. In particular, we will focus on the links between dendritic spines and the (A) presynaptic structures, (B) the extracellular matrix (ECM), and/or (C) other cells such as glia.
