Project Details
Thalamocortical control of context invariant cortical output (C05)
Subject Area
Molecular Biology and Physiology of Neurons and Glial Cells
Term
since 2017
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 227953431
Project C05 will examine how rodents achieve the generation of robust sensory perception despite variations in stimulus configurations. Vertebrates are able to identify objects regardless of context – such as variations in the object’s position, size or orientation, but the computations that underlie this capability remain poorly understood. Recordings in behaving animals, reconstructions of the input and output pathways of recorded neurons, and computational modelling will be combined to examine how cortical output neurons can achieve context invariant stimulus representations.
