Subject Area
Sociological Theory
Term
since 2018
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 290045248
Investigating the refiguration of internal border demarcations and related regime formations, the sub-project analyzes historical and current cases of local conflicts over deportation. The focus is on conflicts following temporary residential permits in rural and urban contexts in Germany and Australia. Central questions are: which kinds of local conflicts arise from spatial shifts and time lags in these practices of territorial sorting, and how are legal actions and border control measures clashing with established social ties and relationships?
