Project Details
Analysis of protein nano-environments of the voltage-gated P/Q-type Ca2+ channels Cav2.1 in the CN (P16)
Subject Area
Biochemistry
Term
from 2007 to 2018
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 26068018
Voltage-gated Ca2+ (Cav) channels link excitability to a large variety of cellular processes via local Ca2+ signalling occuring in the nano-environment(s) around Cav channels. Structurally, these nano-environments are extended protein networks resulting from co-assembly of Cav channels with distinct partner proteins and subsequent cross-interactions between individual modules. This project analyzes formation and architecture of Cav2.1-associated protein networks and investigates the significance of the network arrangement and of individual modules for the Cav-driven local Ca2+-signalling in central neurons.
