The Specialised Information Service (FID) for Philosophy https://philportal.de is operated jointly by the University and City Library of Cologne and the Department of Philosophy / Cologne Centre for eHumanities at the University of Cologne. One of the main concerns of the FID Philosophie is to provide the philosophical community with full-text access. It offers the possibility of media-neutral hosting of philosophical journals in Diamond Open Access. In addition, the FID Philosophie supports philosophical research with supplementary information services (such as a calendar of events, a subject portal, a digital reference collection and a networked knowledge space on philosophical authors). The FID Philosophy is characterised by a very close connection to the philosophical community, which is expressed in its cooperation with the most important philosophical societies. Further expanding and strengthening this connection to the philosophical community is a key concern of the project. This will be also achieved through close cooperation with a number of philosophical projects such as PhiWiki and the Philosophy of Digitality project. In addition, the FID Philosophy sees itself as an integral part of the overall FID system: it makes an active contribution to the further development of the system and designs its own activities and developments in such a way that they are available for subsequent use for other FID. Moreover, it works in close co-operation with the relevant NFDI consortia.
