Regulation of growth factor signaling by the nanoscale presentation of the extracellular matrix (A07)

While the importance of the extracellular matrix in regulating integrin signaling has been shown, little is known about how the physical presentation of other matrix-bound biomolecules affects their signaling. To address this, we will use synthetic hydrogels in combination with bioengineered platforms to study how the matrix presentation of vascular endothelial growth factor regulates signaling at the cell membrane, and how this impacts on angiogenesis.
