Building on the groundwork laid during the first phase of the dictionary project "Digital Philological-Etymological Dictionary of Old Albanian", the second phase intends to finalize the first exhaustive assessment of both the entire inherited lexicon and the complete loan word lexicon of Old Albanian. The Digital Philological-Etymological Dictionary of Old Albanian will serve as a fundamental resource for Albanology and Comparative Indo-European Linguistics. It will be published both online (with multiple search options) and in printed form (print-on-demand). This will make it accessible to a broad public, including scholars of many different disciplines. The project’s second phase comprises the following steps:(a) completion of the philological and etymological entries belonging to the Albanian inherited lexicon;(b) completion of the entries on loan words, including the synchronic linguistic analysis and the recontruction of the date and direction of the borrowing and nativization;(c) cross-linking of the online DPEWA database with other lexicographic databases;(d) release of the web database.A Beta version of the electronic dictionary (DPEWA) has already been released (https://www.dpwa.gwi.uni-muenchen.de/) and will be augmented and updated every six months. The entries of the dictionary cover the philological documentation of word usage regarding semantics and grammar (forms and constructions), as well the historical linguistic interrelationships of Albanian with the other Indo-European languages (Albanian and Indo-European etymology).
