Project B02 studies mechanisms mediating niche conformance and the consequences on phenotypic variation in the sawfly Athalia rosae. Individuals will be exposed to starvation and intra- and intergenerational effects on life-history, metabolism, behaviour and the microbiome will be explored. Moreover, the function of pharmacophagous uptake of clerodanoids by the adults will be elucidated. Findings will promote our understanding of factors that shape individualised niche conformance across ontogeny.
