Time- and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy with spin and light polarization analysis will be implemented to reconstruct transient orbital and spin textures and to study spin, valley, and orbital dynamics in 2D van der Waals magnets and their heterostructures. We plan to investigate Hund metallicity, a spin-order-driven form of orbital correlation, exciton-spin coupling, spin transfer mechanisms, and domain dynamics to manipulate the magnetic state on ultrafast time scales by tailored optical excitation. In this way, we will gain microscopic insight into the non-equilibrium evolution of the electronic structure in spintronic 2D materials.
