Project Details
The relationship between implicit and explicit visuomotor task learning in hippocampus and parietal cortex (A11*)
Subject Area
Human Cognitive and Systems Neuroscience
Term
from 2018 to 2022
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 122679504
The parietal cortex and hippocampus are involved in the acquisition of visuomotor tasks to a varying degree, depending on explicitness, the difficulty and novelty of a task. We will scrutinise the interplay of the two structures during learning and execution of visuomotor tasks using EEG, fMRI, EEG-fMRI, electrocorticography and single neuron recordings in humans. To accomplish this, we will investigate visuomotor adaptations, transformations and associations in virtual reality tasks to better understand the role and interaction of parietal cortex and hippocampus during skill acquisition.
