Project Details
Activity-dependent regulation of AMPA receptor function by auxiliary subunits (B11)
Subject Area
Molecular Biology and Physiology of Neurons and Glial Cells
Term
since 2018
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 221828878
The differential regulation of AMPAR trafficking by auxiliary subunits is an underlying mechanism of homeostatic plasticity. Homeostatic up- and downregulation was shown to specifically affect the auxiliary subunit CKAMP44 in the dentate gyrus and visual thalamus, and its effects on synaptic strength and AMPAR trafficking were analyzed. During the next funding period, we will further characterize the function of CKAMP44 in the visual thalamus and cortex and will model the impact of altered reticulogeniculate synaptic function on information transfer from the thalamus to the cortex and on cortical computation in CKAMP44-/- mice in constitutive conditions and during visual deprivation-induced homeostatic plasticity.
