Closely related to the project and rarely applied to the Russian past and present are several of the most influential research strategies. The work of the Russian-German research team is to analyze the conceptual framing of the social realities, which are conceptualized in different times in different ways. The term “Republic” sounds foreign, alien or at least strange for the Russian ear. It needs deep investigation of the evidence and cooperation of specialists in many fields and aspects of research to uncover its historical relevance in the Russian context. The main result of this cooperation will be a volume of explorations on social and cultural meanings of the term “Republic” and its Russian analogues that shall be defined and interpreted from the points of view of intellectual history and cultural history of notions.
