Final Report Abstract

An analytical model was set up and the interface debonding for the overlap zone of a monolayer graphene/PET nanocomposite under static traction or axial displacement is derived. The interface behavior is governed by a bi-linear cohesive law. Three zones are detected along the interface: elastic, cohesive and delaminated. The statement of the problem is given in tractions or in displacements, respectively. For the lengths of elastic, cohesive and delaminated zones, two new non-linear algebraic equations are derived, solved and used to illustrate the different behavior of the interface shear stress. The validation of the model was performed, comparing the obtained interface shear stress with the experimental data of Guo and Zhu (2015) for monolayer graphene/PET composite in pure elastic case. The comparison shows a very good agreement with the experimental data. The parametric analysis of the interface delamination for the influence of the length of the overlap zone, external loading displacement and the thickness of the host layer of the nanostructure is done.
