This project is a direct offspring of substantial preliminary work in the associated project AP01. It aims at extending well-established concepts of particle dynamics in Euclidean space to particles in membranes with membrane-mediated particle interactions by combining basic statistical mechanics with analysis and numerical analysis of geometrical partial differential equations, thus bridging the complete range of scales from molecular dynamics to macroscopic free energies in a mathematically consistent way.
