Zusammenfassung der Projektergebnisse

Summary of the visit: The research in quantum optics has got a new dimension with the development of nano-mechanics. Of late, the people have got involved in the quantum properties of micro- nano-mechanical systems. The laser cooling techniques have made it possible to cool down these mechanical systems to realize it as a quantum harmonic oscillator. The main motivations of these studies are to test the foundation of quantum mechanics. However, these nano-mechanical systems offer ultra-high sensitive measurement devices. Keeping in view of these facts, we investigate the quantum dynamics of ion trapped in a cavity. In particular, we allow the movement of one of the cavity walls due to radiation pressure. The analytical expressions in this regard is constructed. Of course, we are yet to come for a concluding situation. I am still working in this subject. We hope to come out with some significant results in due course of time. We agreed to continue our collaboration in future not only with this specific problem but also the problems related to recent interests on quantum optics. We plan to calculate the entanglement between the atomic state and the field modes. In order to strengthen our collaboration work, we hope to come out with some specific projects in future. During my short stay at Rostock, I attended and interacted in various seminars in Professor Vogel’s group and the group of other people in Rostock University. I also visited the Palacky University of Czech Republic and delivered a seminar talk over there.
