Patients with frequent migraine attacks are at risk to overuse medication for the treatment of migraine attacks and to develop medication overuse headache. Patients who were successfully treated for medication overuse have a relapse rate of up to 50% in the following 2 years. This study will assess the effects of providing patients with feedback regarding their self-reported use of migraine medications using a mobile application (App; N1-Headache) on the development or prevention of medication overuse headache. We hypothesize that the development of medication overuse headache in patients with frequent episodic or chronic migraine and relapse after treatment of medication overuse headache can be reduced by a feedback system.
