Zusammenfassung der Projektergebnisse

We have studied the Magnetic properties of Fe-Ni and Fe-Si alloys under pressure using SQUID magnetometer and Mössbauer spectroscopy. The inconsistent results between SQUID magnetometer and Mössbauer spectroscopy encourage us using another model to explain the Mössbauer data, which obtain equally good fits to the Mössbauer spectra and a hyperfine field decrease with pressure that is consistent with magnetic remanence data. As Mössbauer spectroscopy was widely used in ferromagnetism research under high pressure, careful data treatment and explanation should be considered. SQUID magnetometer results show great magnetization enhancement on both fcc structure Fe-Ni alloys and bcc structure Fe-Si alloys when going through pressure process (both compression and decompression). The full theory and mechanism to explain that is not fully understood. We propose the accumulation of the structural distortion (caused by pressure process) is highly related. Economically, our project discoveries may be used for building better magnets in industry; scientifically our project discoveries are useful for magnetism research related to meteorite, asteroid and terrestrial planets.
