Hepatic angiodiversity: Vascular control of liver function and disease (B02)

Subject Area Cardiology, Angiology
Gastroenterology
Term since 2019
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 394046768

The aim of the second funding period pf project B02 will be to comprehensively study the vascular pathomechanisms that control liver fibrosis. Pro-fibrotic liver endothelial cell subpopulations will be analyzed in Gata4-deficient liver endothelial cells and diet-induced fibrosis models. Moreover, novel molecular regulators involved in liver endothelial cell differentiation and liver fibrosis will be studied, such c-Maf, Sox11, and Meis2. Lastly, project B02 will investigate environmental factors such as feeding and fasting as well as age-dependent molecular programs in the regulation of hepatic angiodiversity and liver function. The project will thereby aim at identifying novel cellular and molecular targets for the prevention and the treatment of liver diseases.
