C12 focuses on Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) for THz beam steering. In the 2nd phase the work moves on from reflect-arrays, arrays of reflectors with long-throw actuators for true-time delay, to transmissive waveguide beam steering by integrating dielectric high-resistivity silicon waveguides into the long-throw actuators. This allows to realize compact and energy-efficient systems in mobile applications in combination with diverse THz sources and transceivers. C12 therefore investigates the co-integration of long-throw-actuators and slot antennas with the most suitable dielectric waveguide concept for complex future THz waveguide array systems.
