High-speed camera system
Subject Area
Materials Engineering
Term
Funded in 2019
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 424852613
The deformation and failure behavior of materials, joints and components are highly dependent on the strain rate. By means of the high-speed camera system, reliable characteristic values for material characterization and simulation can be determined in high-speed tensile and shear tests. The main objective is the highly accurate determination of strain fields in tests with moderate strain rates, as well as the determination with sufficient resolution in high-speed tests. With the help of the proposed system, dynamic deformation and failure properties can be precisely characterized with regard to service safety and economic efficiency. The focus is on the better understanding of the process-structure-property-relationships which enable an application-specific and property-enhanced manufacturing. In cooperation with the available high-speed testing system, the camera system will be used in ongoing and planned research projects, as well as in student works and practical courses.
