Maturase assemblies in cytochrome c biogenesis (A04)

Subject Area Biochemistry
Term since 2019
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 403222702

Project Description

C-type cytochromes contain one or multiple covalently linked heme cofactors. Heme attachment is mediated by maturases that scan the nascent peptide upon membrane translocation and recognize conserved binding motifs. In this project we will characterize the components and submodules of the two most versatile maturases, the Ccm and Ccs system, in structural and functional aspects and also investigate the dynamic association of the maturases with the Sec translocon.
