Project Details
He3-He4 dilution refrigerator for temperatures below 0.3 K down to <50 mK with optical access and installed magnet coil
Subject Area
Condensed Matter Physics
Term
Funded in 2019
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 427377618
We apply for a dilution refrigerator with optical access for performing experiments at a base temperature below 50 mK. In addition, it shall be possible to apply high magnetic or/and electric fields. The system will be used to address a broad spectrum of scientific projects that would benefit from the ultralow temperatures such as (a) high resolution spectroscopy of excitonic fine structure; (b) study of collective phases such as polariton- or exciton condensates, (c) dynamics of carrier and spin systems in extended nanostructures; (d) nuclear spin systems expected to show collective phases at extreme cooling and their influence on the carrier spin dynamics; (e) correlated materials with phase transitions in the mK-temperature range, in particular spin liquids; as well as (f) ultrafast acoustics in the regime of a few phonons or a single phonon.
