X-ray Single Crystal Diffractometer

With this proposal we apply for a new X-ray diffractometer for the structure elucidation of crystalline materials. The diffractometer shall operate with two different X-ray sources (silver, molybdenum), so that compounds with different elements (light atoms, heavy atoms) and a large range of unit cell volumes can be treated perfectly. The device should have a lvery fast detector arge area detector allowing for very fast measurements. This assures that also very sensivite and labile compounds can be measured. For the same reason the diffractometer should be equipped with a reliable cooling system. The versatile requirements for the diffractometer originate form the different research fields of the users. They come from molecular chemistry, materials sciences, coordination chemistry and solid state chemistry. The new diffractometer will substitute an older device.
