Multi-scale nonlinear lasing dynamics of coupled semiconducting nanowires with resonant and active nanosystems (C05)

Subject Area Experimental Condensed Matter Physics
Optics, Quantum Optics and Physics of Atoms, Molecules and Plasmas
Term since 2019
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 398816777

The central aim of project C5 was and will be the investigation and control of the spatio-temporal field evolution, the dynamics, and their interactions in complex hybridized, active semiconductor nanowires with photonic and/or plasmonic nanostructures. The goal will be to extend control of the spatio-temporal and spatio-spectral lasing dynamics to generate more complex patterns involving multiple temporal scales. This should be achieved by coupling the nanowires to resonant and active nanosystems, providing additional feedback and subwavelength mode confinement to active semiconductor nanowires. To expand the temporal coherence, coupling to low-loss dielectric nanostructures with strong index contrast will be investigated. Extended spatial complexity of the lasing modes will be obtained by shaping their fields based on coupling to electric and magnetic multipolar resonances in the high-index dielectric nanostructures.
