In the first funding period (1st FP), we focused on the interplay of protective and risk factors for losing and regaining control in alcohol use disorder (AUD) patients (n=702) using a latent class regression approach combined with linear mixed modelling. We showed differential effects of behavioral impulsivity, stress and loneliness as a function of age and gender. In the 2nd FP we will conduct ecological momentary studies to investigate how impulsivity and perceived loneliness affect day-to-day variation in consumption patterns. In order to test the generalizability of findings and explore effects of drug availability, we will investigate patterns and contexts of cannabis use pre and post legalization.
