Term since 2020
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 421152132

Adhesion GPCR are unique receptors as they can flexibly elicit several functions such as adhesion, classical signals into cells via G-protein pathways (cis), and also so-called trans functions onto opposing cells. The integration of all these functions is realized by the receptors´ large and complex N termini via several means such as different receptor variants and ligands. Using the prototypic aGPCR Latrophilin in the simple model organism C. elegans, this project delineates the dynamics and spatial-temporal requirements of variants, receptor cleavage and ligand-binding on receptor activity as well as on cis and trans function. Furthermore, it will dissect their interplay to understand how they enable the N terminus to coordinate the numerous receptor functions.
