Project Details
Element specific insight into hysteresis (B05)
Subject Area
Experimental Condensed Matter Physics
Term
since 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 405553726
The element specific hysteresis, the local geometry, the electronic and the vibrational structure will be studied in new magnetocaloric materials. Our new ULMAG-setup at the ESRF at the beamline ID12 (projects A03, A10, B01, B05) provides an element-specific way to investigate the role of external stimuli (magnetic field, strain, pressure) with element-specificity to drive the phase transitions in magnetocaloric materials. Transformation avalanches on demand will be triggered by these external (dynamic) stimuli. The experimental results will be compared to calculations (project B06) and measurements in projects A04, B01, B02, B03, B04, B06, B08, B12.
