Final Report Abstract

We explored the function of pleural immune cells mainly during pulmonary infections. Our results let suggest that certain immune cells (macrophages, B cells, T cells) have important protective functions supporting an effective immune response during pulmonary bacterial and viral infections. In addition, pleural effusion might be triggered during AhR-mediated biliary peritonitis after hepatectomy. Further clinical-observational analysis are ongoing to explore possible treatment options.
