The networks aims at an invesitagtion of optionality and variation in multilingual contexts. If focuses on an empirical and theoretical modelling of syntactic variation in various language acquisition contexts (L1, L2, L3, bi- and multilingual contexts including heritage languages). The modeling of optionality and variation particularly in these language acquisition contexts is so far not sufficiently addressed and the network targets this particular research gap and focuses on further advancing insights in this particular context (most research on this topic so far centers around monolingual acquisition contexts or on diachrony).
