First, the results of the 1st funding period, i.e. process parameters, material characterization, static and dynamic test methods, will be transferred to a new material. For this purpose, a high-manganese austenitic stainless steel with higher strength and lower CO2 balance than 316L will be selected. The next step will focus on the integration of LPBF elements into large-scale structures. This will include the development of a methodology to predict fatigue life based on process monitoring. In addition, it will be investigated how the tailored stiffness of LPBF connection elements can be used to control the global load distribution within a structure. Throughout the project, the sustainability aspects of LPBF elements will be considered and quantified.
