Calibration station for innovative measurement techniques in dynamics and acoustics

Subject Area Electrical Engineering and Information Technology
Mechanics and Constructive Mechanical Engineering
Systems Engineering
Term Funded in 2020
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 442429052

The requested large-scale device will be used for monitoring the measuring equipment in dynamics and acoustics with special respect to wind energy research. It meets the requirements, which guarantee a standardized and traceable calibration in the research laboratory of the applying institute. In addition to the calibration of single sensors the device provides defined accelerations and analyses the whole measuring chain. This is important, because each single element of the measuring chain should be known in terms of transfer function, disturbances and noise. This is an important prerequisite to data-driven methods within the research of Structural Health Monitoring methods. With respect to structures of wind energy turbines (for example towers, rotor blades), which either have natural frequencies in the range from 0.05 to 1 Hz or are dynamically excited by respective external low-frequency loads due to wind or waves, calibration is needed in the very low frequency range.Usual calibration devices have a lower limit of 0.1 Hz, whereas the here requested device covers the full desired low frequency range entirely.
