Ruck’s project will focus on the development of appropriate wet chemical exfoliation techniques for TIs such as Bi14Rh3I9 and related layered compounds, Bi2TeX (X = Br, I), Bi2MnTe4, and GaGeTe. In particular, this includes the synthesis of high-quality crystals as starting materials, as well as the chemical and physical characterization of the products by quantum theory and various experimental techniques. Thus, the project aims at chemically and structurally defined 2DMs with 1 to 10 layers and lateral dimensions of at least 1 μm.
