The “Hannoverscher Kurier” was one of the most important newspapers of the north german region and was published more than 90 years (1854-1944). As a political liberal and non-governmental (untill 1930s) medium of this period the “Hannoverscher Kurier” covers the historical process from the Kingdom of Hanover, across the province in the prussian state and the Weimar Republic to the last years of the second world war. The “Hannoverscher Kurier” was a long term running newspaper with more than 420.000 printed pages and fits almost perfectly to the criteria “Dauerbrenner” according to the “Masterplan Zeitungsdigitalisierung”. The newspaper will be digitised inhouse. Appropriate to the indexing standards of the “Masterplan”, basic standard, level 2, the “Hannoverscher Kurier” will be made accessible in a calender view and with ocr (optical character recognition).
